[Not BAHN] March 29th. Explosions in Moscow metro
Verfasst: Dienstag 30. März 2010, 23:06
Some info in brief.
This Monday, at 7:52 on 'Lubyanka' station (Red line) the second waggon of well-known '75 years Red Arrow anniversary' train (route 9, 'Severnoe' depot) was blown up by a woman-suicide-bomber.
At 8:46, on 'Park Kultury' station (Red line again) the third waggon of another train (route 46, 'Cherkizovo' depot) was also blown up.
In total, 36 people killed, 3 people died in hospitals. 84 people asked for medical help, 71 of them are still in hospitals of the city.
The Red line was closed immediately. Until 16:12 there was no service between 'Sportivnaya' and 'Komsomolskaya' metro station. Public overground connecting Red line with nearest others was reported to be heavily overcrowded. The main highway ('Third transit circle') around the city centre collapsed deadly in a huge traffic jam. Mobile phone network became absent in some areas of the city, but soon the mobile operator companies succeeded in turning it on. Taxi drivers (God, save their souls) put their prices extremely high (in some cases more than $50 for kilometer reported)
- State Road Police (GAI) closed some parts of city centre roads for the bus service to be provided instead of metro.
- More than 130 buses provided by State company 'MosGorTrans' to carry passengers of the Red line.
- 'Russian Railways' provided special suburban trains running every 20 minutes from Belorusskiy vokzal to Tsaritsyno station and backwards (interchanges to metro stations: Belorusskaya - Savelovskaya - Komsomolskaya - Kurskaya - Tekstilschiki - Tsaritsyno).
- Main mobile network operators in Moscow decided to return all the money spent by consumers calling their relatives after the tragedy (and have already done it).
At 16:12, short part of Red line from 'Sportivnaya' to 'Park Kultury' opened for the public service.
At 16:55, Red line fully opened for public service, except 'Lubyanka' station (trains not stopping).
At 17:08, 'Lubyanka' station opened. Still some damaged marble can be seen.
-------------------------
In the late evening, after the peak hour, on all the LCD information and commercial screens, instead of usual content the phrase appeared: "We remember and we mourn". People from all over the city come to 'Lubyanka' and 'Park Kultury' with candles and flowers.
